My Sisters in the Congo

You deserve so much more than you have been given and yet you continue to fight for yourselves, your daughters and your mothers. With so much anguish and heartbreak to bare, you have hearts big enough to carry concern and love for those you have not even met. Our bodies give housing and sometimes protection to our spirits. Sometimes our bodies are also assaulted in the attempt to destroy our spirit.

You have shown us that the spirit really dwells in a different place than simply the body. Despite the terrible and unspeakable things that you have had to tolerate your spirits shine through. The essential part of you that has helped us in the rest of the world to understand that love of self, love of others and love from others can serve as protection and energy for spirits determined to survive the worst of circumstances.

Your names may be unknown to us but your spirits are carried in our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers. In those places we do not need names to reach each other. In your darkest hour, be assured that someone is praying for you and keeping you on their mind and in their spirit.

Continue to fight to stop the violence against you and also fight to keep your spirits alive !

Carol

You are a fantastic woman!
RI remembers and continues to support NOLA and the DRC!
We are returning to NOLA yet again to volunteer to premiere a documentary that we filmed last August (the filmmaker was inspired after V to the 10th)
Perhaps we could screen it at Ashe? She wants to include local NOLA choirs...sugg
estions?.

As the violence in the Eastern DRC continues, your support & your voice are critical. Hundreds of thousands of women and girls have been raped, and thousands more are at risk every day.

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT , let the women of the Congo hear you, speak out against this violence, send your message of hope, empowerment, change and victory.

CHANGING THE STORY
Join V-Day’s global campaign STOP RAPING OUR GREATEST RESOURCE: POWER TO THE WOMEN AND GIRLS OF DRC and bring much needed attention to the needs of Congolese women and girls.

The atrocities being perpetrated against women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo are nothing less than a femicide.
